Data collection
Tweet Preview for X (Twitter) does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data or usage data. There are no accounts, no sign-ins, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party servers.
What happens locally
- The text and media you compose on x.com are read locally, only to render the preview panel on the same page. They are never transmitted anywhere.
- Your settings (device frame, theme, panel side, counter and thread toggles, and any
tweet links you paste) are stored with
chrome.storage.sync, which lives in your own Chrome profile and syncs only through your own Google account, controlled by your browser — never by us.
Network requests
The extension's only network requests fetch the public content of tweets you
explicitly paste into its settings, so they can be shown as timeline context in your
preview. These requests go directly from your device to X's public endpoints
(cdn.syndication.twimg.com and publish.twitter.com) and contain
only the public tweet ID — no personal data. Responses are cached locally in your
browser.
Permissions
- storage — saves your preferences and the local tweet cache described above.
- x.com / twitter.com content script — renders the preview beside the composer.
- cdn.syndication.twimg.com / publish.twitter.com — fetches the public tweets you paste, on-device.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Since the extension collects nothing, meaningful changes are unlikely.
